University teaching

More than 400 appearances at 100 institutions in 21 countries.

For more than 25 years, AirLearn’s principal has delivered a range of lectures, seminars, and one-on-one sessions at leading business, law, and engineering schools worldwide (please click here for a list of venues).

At institutions like Wharton, Kellogg, and the London Business School, Rob functions as a clinical professor, supplementing regular faculty.  AirLearn’s strength comes from a combination of 1) broad and deep understanding of the airline industry that results from decades of leading from within, all across the enterprise; 2) complete comfort and flexibility in curriculum development; and 3) an energetic and interactive presentation style that engages learners.

Rob’s broad experience across the airline business enable him to speak on a range of topics.  He fits well in marketing, strategy, management, organizational behavior, and basic finance classes.  Here’s a partial list of topics:

These topics and others can be compressed into an hour or elaborated to a half- or full-day course, and tailored to specific student or class needs.

AirLearn also offers a 15-30 hour "short course" that gives non-specialists a thorough introduction to the complexities and challenges of managing a commercial airline, with special reference to older carriers that came of age in a regulated market. It is not intended as specialized training, but rather as a case study to illustrate real-world issues and responses in a dynamic and essential industry. It has proven appeal to a wide range of students.
